Language points

1. April Fool’s Day is a celebration that takes place in different countries around the world.

愚人節一種發生在世界上不同國家的慶祝活動。

take place 意為「發生；進行；舉行；產生」。

2. It happens on April 1st every year and is a day when many people play all kinds of tricks and jokes on each other. 愚人節是每年的四月一日，在這一天，人們互相捉弄各種玩笑。

play tricks on sb. 意為“捉弄某人”，

play jokes on sb. 是「對某人開玩笑 」的意思。

3. Many people ran to their local supermarkets to buy as much spaghetti as they could. 很多

人跑到當地的超市搶購盡可能多的義大利麵。

as +形容詞/副詞的原級+ as sb. can / could 相當於as + 形容詞/副詞原級+ as possible，意為“盡可能地……”，在句中作狀語。

例：We must do everything as well as we can. = We must do everything as well as possible. 我們要盡量做好每一件事。
