一般將來式表示將來某一時刻將要發生的動作或將來某一段時間經常發生的動作或存在的狀態。一般未來式由助動詞shall（第一人稱），will（第二、三人稱）+動詞原形構成。

（1）will/shall + do

（2）am/is/are going to + do

(1) 用will或shall表示。 「助動詞will或shall＋動詞原形」這個形式，表示將來發生的事情，用來徵求對方的意見或表示客氣的邀請。在口說中will用於所有人稱，書寫語中第一人稱常用shall。

e.g. Tomorrow will be Sunday. 明天就是星期天。

The rain will stop soon. 雨很快就要停了。

Shall we go there at five? 我們五點去那兒，好嗎？

Will you please open the door? 請你把門打開，好嗎？

(2) 用be going to結構表示。 「be going to＋動詞原形」用來表示近期或事先考慮過的將要發生的動作以及已有跡象表明必將發生某事，意為「打算；就要」。

e.g. We’re going to meet outside the school gate.

我們打算在校門口​​見面。
