Are you familiar with these sentences? They are all from this module. Observe them carefully.

1. I can look after myself, although it won’t be easy for me.

2. Although they loved me, I felt a bit unhappy with them.

3. My clock rings so loudly that it will certainly wake me up.

4. I’m sure I’ve forgotten something, but I don’t know what it is!

5. The meeting in Lhasa is very important for us, but I’m sorry you can’t come with us, Betty.

6. I became so bored with their orders that I wished they would leave me alone.

本單元涉及的狀語子句類型：

狀語子句

結果狀語子句

so… that…

so…that…結構的意思是「太…以至於…」。 so後面接形容詞或副詞，表示程度，that後接子句表示此程度造成的影響或結果。

We were so noisy that our next-door neighbour came to complain.

我們太吵了，以致隔壁鄰居前來抱怨。

I was so careless that I forgot something important.

我真是粗心，以致忘了重要的事情。

He speaks so fast that I can’t understand him.

他說話太快了，以致我沒理解他的意思。

讓步狀語子句

although /though

由although引導的讓步狀語子句表示「儘管…，（但是）…」。一般情況下，可以和though引導的讓步狀語子句互換使用，但在口語中though更為常用。

I can look after myself, although/ though it won’t be easy for me.

我還是可以照顧自己的，雖然這對我來說並不容易。

Although/ Though Kevin is alone, he is very happy at first.

儘管凱文獨自一人（在家），但他剛開始還是挺高興的。

He went on fighting, though/ although he was wounded.

儘管受了傷，他還是繼續戰鬥。
