as…as…意為「和…一樣…」,用於同級之間的比較。其基本結構為:as+形容詞或副詞的原級+as。

I gave him as much as he could eat.

他能吃多少,我就給了他多少。

【拓展】(1)as…as…的否定形式為「not as/so+形容詞或副詞的原級+as…」,表示「不如…,比不上…」。

(2)as…as…結構中可以使用以下修飾詞(組):just,exactly,not quite,half,

twice等,而這些修飾詞(組)必須置於第一個as之前,而不能置於其後。

2.We probably won’t see any flowers until May or June!

until意為「直到…為止」,引導時間狀語子句。 until用於肯定句時,主句的動作必須是延續性的,表示這一動作或狀態一直延續到until所表示的時間為止;用於否定句時,主句的動作一般是非延續性動詞,強調表示動作或狀態直到until所表示的時間才發生,構成not…until…結構,表示「直到…才…」。若主句使用一般將來時態,則子句必須用一般現在時態表示將來。

The bus won’t start until everyone gets on.直到每個人都上車,公共汽車才會開動。

【拓展】till 是連詞,意思是「直到…之時;在…之前」,通常用來表示時間,相當於until,只是語氣較弱。

They waited here till ten o’clock.他們在這裡一直等到十點。
