1.Science is so interesting!

◆so為副詞,意為「這樣,如此」,用於修飾形容詞或副詞的原級,表示程度。常見用法如下:

(1)「so+形容詞+a/an+單數名詞」相當於「such a/an+形容詞+單數名詞」。

(2)so後可接many,much,few和little來表示名詞的數目。

(3)so…that…意為「如此…以至於…」,構成結果狀語子句。

◆interesting為形容詞,意為「有趣的」,表示事物本身含有令人感興趣的因素,可作表語或定語,用於說明物。

【拓展】interested也為形容詞,意為「感興趣的」,表示人對物的感受,在句中可作表語,常用於固定短語be/get interested in「對…感興趣」。

2.Fill the dish half full with water.

half full with water為形容詞片語,在句中作狀語,表伴隨狀態。

3.Light the candle.

light為動詞,意為「點燃」,可構成片語light up「點(煙),照亮」,受詞為代名詞時,應放在light與up之間。 light的過去式和過去分詞為lighted/lit,lighted/lit。

【拓展】(1)light作名詞時,意為「燈,光」。

(2)light作形容詞時,意為「輕的,淺的」。

4.Carefully put the jar over the candle until the top of the jar rests on the dish.

carefully為副詞,意為「細心,認真地」,其形容詞形式為careful,意為「小心的」。 care可用作動詞,意為「關心」,也可用作名詞,意為「照顧」。

5.When the candle stops burning,it has used up all the oxygen in the air.

use up意為「用完,用光」,為「動詞+副詞」構成的片語。這類片語用名詞作賓語時,名詞可用在副詞前,也可放在副詞後;用代名詞作賓語時,代名詞則必須放在副詞前,該片語相當於run out of…,可用於被動語態。
