Yanzi, named Ying, was a famous statesman and diplomat in the Spring and Autumn Period. He assisted in domestic affairs, admonished the king of Qi many times, worked with princes, and promoted the country's prestige.
"Yan Zi Chun Qiu" is a historical classic that records Yan Ying's words and deeds. It is compiled from historical materials and folklore. The book records many of Yan Ying's advice to the monarch to be diligent in government, not to be greedy for pleasure, to care for the people, to appoint talented people, and to accept advice humbly. Yan Zi Shi Chu PPT, the third part: text translation
⑴ Yan Ying is a ci communicator in Qi.
Yan Ying is an eloquent person from Qi State.
Note: "...,...ye." This is a sentence pattern expressing judgment, which is equivalent to the "yes word sentence" in modern Chinese. Other similar sentence patterns are as follows:
"...,... also."
"...,...the one who..."
"……also."
⑵ Intoxicated with wine, two officials bound one to visit the king.
Everyone was having a good time drinking, when two petty officials tied up a man and brought him to the King of Chu.
Note: The subject is omitted before the sentence "wine drunk" and is usually added.
⑶ Ying heard that oranges grown in Huainan are called tangerines, and those grown in north Huaibei are called tangerines. The leaves are similar, but the actual taste is different.
I heard that orange trees growing south of the Huaihe River are orange trees, and growing north of the Huaihe River are tangerine trees. Only the leaves are similar, but the taste of their fruits is different.
Note: When ancient people talked with others, they often called themselves by their first name in the first person, and "ying" was equivalent to "I".
Yan Zi Shi Chu PPT, the fourth part: display of self-study results
1. Why did King Chu want to insult Yan Zi? How did the kings and ministers of Chu plan their plans?
Because Yanzi was "the rhetorician of Qi", the king of Chu wanted to insult Qi by insulting him.
The plan of the king and his ministers of the state of Chu was: "For the purpose of coming, I asked you to tie up a man and pass the king. The king said: 'Who is this?' He said to me, 'Qi people.' The king asked: 'Where are you sitting?' He said: 'Sit down and steal.' '"
A group of people are stealing, this is not a child's prank, it is not a show.
2. Faced with the teasing of King Chu, how did Yan Zi fight back? Draw an outline of Yan Zi’s words and understand what’s so wonderful about what he said?
The cleverness of Yanzi's words lies in the fact that he does not force arguments, does not argue whether the people he is bound are equal, or whether the crime he is referring to is established, but uses analogies to reason and let the King of Chu humiliate himself.
Four taels can be used to treat a person's body in his own way.
3. What kind of person do you think Yanzi is? What kind of person is the King of Chu? Let’s talk about it based on the content of the text.
Yanzi: witty, brave, flexible and eloquent, calm and composed, and fulfills his mission.
King of Chu: Arrogant, arrogant, clever but misguided.
Yan Zi Shi Chu PPT, Part 5: Text Analysis
1. How to translate sentences.
⑴ Combine literal translation with free translation to achieve "faithfulness, expressiveness and elegance".
⑵ Master the six translation methods of "retain, change, delete, supplement, replace and adjust".
⑶ Pay attention to changes in special sentence patterns.
2. Methods of analyzing character images.
⑴ Start by analyzing the direct description of the characters.
Direct description of characters, also called positive description, is to reveal the ideological quality and personality characteristics of the characters and reflect the theme of the work by directly describing the characters' portraits, actions, language, psychology, etc.
⑵ Start by analyzing the sentences describing the characters from the side.
Profile description, in a nutshell, is to indirectly write about the protagonist through the words and deeds of other characters. For example, use dialogues, psychological activities, event narrations, etc. to highlight the personality characteristics of the main characters to be described.
⑶Start with detailed description.
The so-called detailed description refers to the detailed description of the characters' portraits, language, movements, clothing, changes in expressions, as well as the details of things and the environment. When analyzing the description of details, first of all, we must pay attention to the authenticity of the details and to withstand scrutiny; secondly, to see whether they are of typical significance and whether they have been carefully selected and cleverly arranged.
