Description
"Why Am I Living" PPT teaching courseware
Part One Content: Text Introduction
"Why am I alive?" Throughout the ages, people have asked themselves this question hundreds of times. Why do we live? This question is too simple and too complex. Some people live a busy life and become passers-by in the world without even thinking about it; some people search the past and present, meditate hard, and fail to understand the mystery throughout their lives. Dear students here, have you ever considered this issue?
Let’s take a look at how Russell answered this question today…
Why am I alive PPT, part 2: Introduction to the author
Bertrand Russell (1872-1970) was born in England. He lost his mother when he was 2 years old and his father when he was 4 years old. He was raised by his grandfather who served as the British Prime Minister twice. He had a rough life and had a lot of misfortunes, but he always lived strong and later became a great man who had many families in one. He is known as "one of the most famous and influential philosophers of the 20th century" and is regarded by countless people as a "prophet of the future era"; he is also a famous mathematician, logician, and social activist. He is also recognized as a "debater with a genius for agitation." At the beginning of the 20th century, a major achievement in the basic research of modern mathematics was achieved: "Russell's Paradox" and the "Type Theory" that solved this paradox. In 1950, he won the Nobel Prize for Literature and was called an "encyclopedic writer." At the age of 95, he completed the writing of "Russell's Autobiography".
Russell pursued truth throughout his life, actively participated in social and political activities, and made many statements and speeches in order to maintain world peace and oppose aggressive wars. During World War II, he was imprisoned for six months for opposing the war, but he still did not change his original intention.
In early 1955, Russell, Einstein and scientists from various countries launched a signature campaign to ban nuclear weapons.
In 1961, the 89-year-old Russell and his wife went to the British Ministry of Defense for a sit-in demonstration and were sentenced to two months in prison.
Founded the Russell Peace Foundation in 1964.

To appreciate the beautiful and smooth writing, concise and vivid language, and unique and delicate emotions of this article, you should read his calmness, passion and helplessness, his persistent pursuit of love and knowledge, and his indifference to the suffering human beings. Great concern shows the generosity of a philosopher.
Think: Why does the author live?
In this short article, the author answers the question posed in the title of the article straight to the point. The three reasons or goals for his life are: first, the desire for love; second, the pursuit of knowledge; third, the pursuit of human suffering. Unstoppable compassion. The author uses the words "pure" and "strong" to describe these three emotions. They are the powerful spiritual motivation for the author to struggle throughout his long life.

3. In the union of love, I see the epitome of the paradise dreamed by ancient and modern sages and poets...
4. The possible realm of love and knowledge always leads me to the realm of heaven.
Cooperate and communicate, grasp the theme
1. Summarize the reason why the author desires love.
The middle three paragraphs elaborate on the content of the first paragraph. The author said that there are three reasons for pursuing love: 1. Love can bring ecstasy; 2. Love can get rid of loneliness; 3. The union of love can make people see the epitome of the paradise of dreams. In short, love makes people's lives better; the pursuit of love is the pursuit of the realm of life. Here, the author describes love extremely beautifully, shining with the brilliance of human nature. The author also pursues knowledge with the same passion as he pursues love.
2. In what fields does the author pursue knowledge?
Three aspects of the pursuit of knowledge are written here: (1) understanding the human mind; (2) understanding why the stars shine; (3) understanding the power of Pythagoras.
These three aspects actually include several important aspects of human knowledge: people, nature, and society. He pursued knowledge, lived endlessly, and wrote endlessly. He left more than 70 books and countless articles in his life. He dedicated all his wisdom and strength to mankind.
3. Point out the specific connotation of the author’s sympathy for human suffering.
Love and knowledge lead people to a beautiful ideal state, and sympathy for human suffering makes people focus on the real world. As a result, the author's ears often echoed with painful calls, and what appeared before his eyes were hungry children, the oppressed, and the helpless elderly. Here, the conscience of a great thinker to save human suffering is reflected. But the author also has to admit that his rescue of suffering often fails, which makes people even more painful.
