1. One of the important contents of water resources protection is to save water.

Serious waste of water bodies

1. Waste of domestic water

Seventy percent of precious water is lost inadvertently in people's lives.

If the tap drips water at a rate of one drop per second, then 3.6 kilograms of water can be wasted in one hour. If each household leaves the faucet open for one hour per day, 0.1 tons of water can be collected in one month, and the water leakage in a year will reach 1.3 tons. (In fact, the amount of water dripping in many households every day far exceeds this amount.) Take Shanghai as an example. There are 5.3 million households in Shanghai, and the amount of water wasted every year can reach nearly 100 million tons.

2. Industrial water waste

Nowadays, the annual water consumption of global industry accounts for 23% of the total annual water consumption of mankind. Due to incomplete facilities of industrial enterprises and low water recycling rate, huge water waste has been caused.

In addition, some industries themselves are water-wasting, such as the car washing industry. Beijing uses a Kunming Lake of water to wash cars every year.

3. Agricultural water waste

Humans use about 70% of freshwater resources for agriculture. Agricultural production requires a lot of water. It takes 1,000 tons of water to produce 1 ton of grain.

The water used for farmland irrigation is often transported from water sources through channels. During the water transport process, part of the water will leak downward and fail to reach the fields. This kind of water loss along the way generally accounts for 50%-60% of the water delivery volume, and in some places it even reaches 70%. What a pity!
