Two PPT coursewares on the story of "Zhuangzi"

Zhuang Zhou, a Mongolian from the Song Dynasty during the Warring States Period, a philosopher and a representative figure of Taoism. He is good friends with Keiko.

Zhuangzi's thoughts are relatively complex and basically belong to subjective idealism; he advocates protecting one's life, preserving one's life, raising one's relatives, and ending one's life.

"Zhuangzi" has high literary value. Its writing is unrestrained, rich in imagination, and magnificent. "Zhuangzi" has a total of 33 chapters, divided into internal chapters, external chapters and miscellaneous chapters. The 7 inner chapters were written by Zhuangzi, the 15 outer chapters and the 11 miscellaneous chapters are generally considered to be forgeries of his disciples and later scholars. Zhuangzi's imagination is extremely rich, his language can be used freely and flexibly, and he can explain some subtle and unspeakable philosophies in a fascinating way. Mr. Lu Xun praised him for his "extensive and comprehensive writing, with all manner of manners, which are unparalleled among the works of other scholars in the late Zhou Dynasty" ("Outline of the History of Chinese Literature"). Guo Moruo also commented: "There are really unique people among ancient Chinese philosophers who are both thinkers and essayists." ("Zhuangzi and Lu Xun") Therefore, his works are called "philosophy of literature, literature of philosophy" .

Read the text carefully and think about the following questions

1. Zhuangzi went to visit Huizi. How did Huizi feel? Why does this mentality arise? How did he react to Zhuangzi coming to Liang? What does it mean?

Answer: Fear. Afraid that Zhuangzi would take his place. The initial reaction may also be one of joy. However, under the instigation of others, he immediately became suspicious of Zhuangzi, and then went to war and carried out a large-scale manhunt in the city, insisting on keeping Zhuangzi in his hands. It shows that Huizi is unkind and ungrateful, and forgets his righteousness when he sees profit.

2. What was Zhuangzi’s reaction to this?

Answer: He did not hide, did not run away, did not yell or reprimand him in person, but came to Keiko openly and proactively. Facing Kezi, who was greedy for profit and ruthless, he told him a story, which satirized Kezi's obsession with fame and fortune and his narrow-mindedness, and asked Kezi to realize the purpose of the story by himself.

3. What kind of person does the story "Huizi Xiangliang" make a bitter mockery of?

Answer: People who are obsessed with fame and wealth and are narrow-minded.

4. What do you think the article "Huizi Xiangliang" shows about Zhuangzi's attitude towards fame and fortune?

Answer: He is aloof and self-sufficient, and is indifferent to fame and wealth.

What is Zhuangzi's purpose in telling stories?

In the story of , is a metaphor for a noble-minded person, and 鸱 (chī) is a metaphor for a villain who is obsessed with wealth and jealousy of gentlemen. Zhuangzi compared himself to a turtle, compared Huizi to an owl, and compared fame and wealth to a rotten rat. This not only expressed his position and aspirations, but also ridiculed Huizi extremely bitterly. Zhuangzi did not criticize Huizi outright, but used a roundabout way of telling stories to curse Huizi, which had an effect that was both sharp and refreshing and left a lingering aftertaste.

1. The plot is unexpected. When a friend comes to congratulate you, you are not happy but suspicious; when a manhunt is imminent, you welcome him without hiding; when you are filled with indignation, you respond calmly; when you talk to him tactfully, he hits the nail on the head.

2. The characters are distinct. Huizi was obsessed with profit, while Zhuangzi was aloof and self-sufficient.

3. The metaphor is clever and appropriate. Qiao borrowed the story to sharply criticize Keiko's despicability.

4. Describe vividly and vividly. The owl protects the "rotting rat", and it is so ugly that it makes people feel like seeing its shape and hearing its voice.

1. Zhuangzi insisted that the fish that "traveled leisurely" were happy. What kind of mood did Zhuangzi express?

Zhuangzi believed that fish's "happiness" was actually the projection and externalization of his happy mood. He believes that everything is relative, and so is human understanding. He came to the shore of Haoshui River and felt happy "going out calmly", so he was also happy when he saw the fish "going out calmly". Therefore, Zhuangzi said that he only felt the happiness of fish when he arrived at Haoshui. Otherwise, how could he see the happiness of fish?

2. Point out the strong and weak characteristics and expression effects of the tone of the following two interrogative sentences.

(1) "You are not a fish, how can you know the happiness of fish?"

(2) "You are not me, how do you know that I don't know the joy of fish?"

(1) The sentence is Huizi’s question about Zhuangzi’s knowledge of “the joy of fish”, and the tone is lighter;

Sentence (2) is Zhuangzi's answer to Huizi's question, using a rhetorical question with a strong tone. This sentence does not answer Keiko's question from the front, but from the opposite side, which has a very good expression effect.

3. Compare the differences in thought, character, temperament, etc. between Zhuangzi and Huiyu. Understand Zhuangzi's attitude towards life and break through the ideological barrier.

In "Huizi Xiangliang", Huizi is greedy for profit, unkind and ungrateful, and guesses Zhuangzi based on his own thoughts, but he doesn't know that Zhuangzi is aloof and reserved, and regards his rank and salary as a "rotten rat", and avoids him for fear of not being able to catch him.

In "Zhuangzi and Huizi Traveled in Qianliang", Huizi was argumentative and focused on analysis. Have an inquisitive cognitive attitude towards things, focusing on the exploration of knowledge. Zhuangzi debated wisely and valued appreciation, and had an appreciative attitude towards understanding the outside world. Expose subjective affection to external objects.

After studying two stories, I have a preliminary understanding of the characteristics of the "Zhuangzi" article. Can you tell me one or two points?

From several fragments of the prose of "Zhuangzi", we can get a clear idea: the prose of "Zhuangzi" is good at reasoning through fables and stories, imagining magic, the language is smart and powerful, humorous and witty, and it is the best among the prose of other scholars.

Discussion and practice:

1. Read the text aloud, pay attention to the tone of the characters, and answer the following questions.

1. What is the purpose of Zhuangzi’s story?

2. Zhuangzi insisted that the fish who "traveled leisurely" were happy. What kind of mood did Zhuangzi express?

2. Explain the highlighted words in the following sentences.

1. Huizi met Liang, and Zhuangzi went to see him.

2. So Huizi was frightened and searched the country for three days and three nights.

3. If it’s not the Wutong tree, you won’t stop eating. If it’s not practicing the real thing, you won’t eat.

4. You are not a fish, how can you know the happiness of fish?
