About the Author
Wen Yiduo (1899-1946), formerly known as Wen Jiahua, was a famous poet, scholar, and democracy fighter. A native of Xishui County, Hubei Province.
He has been interested in classical poetry and art since childhood. In 1912, he was admitted to Tsinghua University in Beijing. The first new poetry collection "Red Candle" was published in September 1923. On July 15, 1946, at a meeting to commemorate Mr. Li Gongpu, he angrily denounced the Kuomintang's crime of assassinating Li Gongpu and delivered the famous "Last Speech", which was banned that afternoon. Killed by Kuomintang agents.
