"The Last Lecture" PPT courseware

Part 1: Introduction to the author

Wen Yiduo (1899-1946), a famous poet, scholar, and democracy fighter, was born in Xishui County, Hubei Province. He has been interested in classical poetry and art since childhood. In 1912, he was admitted to Tsinghua University in Beijing. The first new poetry collection "Red Candle" was published in September 1923, and the second poetry collection "Dead Water" was published in 1928.

On July 15, 1946, at a meeting to commemorate Mr. Li Gongpu, he angrily denounced the Kuomintang's crime of assassinating Li Gongpu and delivered the famous "Last Speech". He was killed by Kuomintang agents that afternoon.

The last lecture PPT, part two: writing background

After the victory of the Anti-Japanese War, U.S. imperialism and Chiang Kai-shek's reactionary government colluded internally and externally to frantically plan an anti-communist and anti-people civil war. This perverse behavior was opposed by the people across the country, and a patriotic and democratic movement "anti-civil war and anti-dictatorship" flourished across the country. The Kuomintang reactionaries braved the disapproval of the world. On the one hand, they tore up the CPPCC meetings and sent troops to launch a massive attack on the liberated areas. On the other hand, they created white terror in the areas they temporarily ruled, and even resorted to assassinations to crazily suppress the people. On July 11, 1946, Mr. Li Gongpu, a famous patriotic and democratic fighter, was killed in Kunming. On July 15, Yunnan University held a memorial meeting for Mr. Li Gongpu, and Mr. Wen Yiduo presided over the meeting. At the meeting, he stood up and delivered this speech full of grief and indignation. After the meeting, Mr. Wen Yiduo went to the "Democracy Weekly" office to attend a press conference. On his way home from the office, he was assassinated by secret agents. This speech became his "last speech."
