Where are earthworms easily found?

What is a suitable living environment for earthworms? How to design an experiment to prove it?

Experiment 1: Do earthworms like bright or dark environments?

1. Find a rectangular box, paint the inside of the box black, cut off one end of the lid of the box, and lay absorbent paper on the bottom of the box.

2. Place the captured earthworms in a group of 5 in the middle of the box, close the lid, and after 5 minutes, open the lid to observe and make records.

3. Repeat it several times and share our findings with your classmates.

Experiment 2: Do earthworms like dry or moist environments?

1. Spread a layer of soil on both ends of the box, with wet soil on one end and dry soil on the other.

2. Place a group of 10 captured earthworms in the middle of the box, close the lid, and after 5 minutes, open the lid to observe and make records.

3. Repeat it a few times and communicate our findings.

Earthworm's Choice PPT, Part 2: Other Animals and the Environment

Talk about what kind of environment these animals adapt to.

Penguins are covered with dense feathers and have subcutaneous fat as thick as two to three centimeters. This special thermal insulation device allows them to live freely in the ice and snow at minus 60 degrees Celsius.

Swans are winter migratory birds that like to live in groups in lakes and swamps and feed mainly on aquatic plants.

Frogs have exposed skin and cannot effectively prevent the evaporation of water in their bodies, so they cannot live without water or a humid environment throughout their lives and are afraid of drought and cold. During the cold winter months, frogs seek out places to hibernate.

Wild geese are highly adaptable and are omnivorous waterfowl, often inhabiting waterside or swamps with dense aquatic plants. Wild geese fly back to the north to breed after the spring equinox every year, and fly to the south to overwinter after the autumnal equinox.

Wolves inhabit forests, deserts, mountains, tundra, coniferous forests, and grasslands. Distributed all over the world except Antarctica and most islands. Due to the large annual temperature difference in cold areas, moulting occurs in order to adapt to environmental changes.

Like earthworms, various animals like to live in certain environments, and different animals have different needs for the environment.
