Died of illness in Shanghai on October 17, 2005.

His major works include "Dead Sun", "Rebirth", "Sand", "Sprouting" and the famous "Torrent Trilogy" "Home", "Spring" and "Autumn", which was serialized in the "Times" in 1931. His novels "Love Trilogy", "Fog", "Rain" and "Electricity". Among them, "Home" is the author's masterpiece and one of the most outstanding works in the history of modern Chinese literature.

In January 1927, Ba Jin took a boat to Paris, France. He compiled his journey into 39 chapters of "Miscellaneous Notes on a Voyage on the Sea", of which "Sunrise on the Sea" is the 23rd chapter.
