Music of the Baroque Period (1600-1750)

Representative figures: Vivaldi, Bach, Handel.

The word "Baroque" originated from Portuguese, and its original meaning was "out of round pearl". Originally refers to the Italian architectural style since the 17th century, which is characterized by grandeur, warmth and bright colors, attention to details and strong decoration.

Vivaldi (1678---1741) was an Italian composer and violinist. He was an important musician in the Baroque period. His surviving works include various solo and orchestra concertos, chamber music and church music. He studied violin since he was a child and served as a music teacher in a church school and a court musician. His representative works include the concerto "Four Seasons", "Inspiration of Harmony", "Extraordinary", the opera "Rosilena and Oronta", the singing drama "Judi the Triumphant", etc.

A. Spring returns to the earth.

B. The crows chirp happily, welcoming spring enthusiastically.

C. The gentle breeze ruffles the spring water, and whispers flow.

Spring, 3 movements:

1. Allegro, including: (1) the return of spring, (2) the song of birds, (3) the murmur of the forest, (4) the flash of lightning and the rumble of thunder.

2. Broad, slow Adagio. This slow movement includes: the clouds disperse and the rain stops, the birds sing their beautiful songs again, and the shepherd boy and his faithful dog take a nap on the flower-filled pasture.

3. Allegro, country dance music with the sound of bagpipes.
