The capital of the country is in ruins, but the mountains and rivers remain unchanged. The spring vegetation of Chang'an is deep. I am sentimental about state affairs, and shed tears when I see flowers; I am sad to see farewell, and I am frightened when I hear birds. The war has been going on for three months, and a letter from home can be worth ten thousand taels of gold. I scratch my head with worry, my white hair is getting shorter day by day, and I can hardly hold the long hairpin.
