Liu Zongyuan (773-819), a writer and philosopher in the Tang Dynasty. Sima is the assistant to the governor, with official positions but no power. Liu Zongyuan lived here for nearly 10 years. In the 10th year of Yuanhe (815), he was transferred to Liuzhou as the governor. During his tenure as governor, he achieved remarkable political achievements. However, due to long-term depression and deteriorating health, he finally died in Liuzhou at the age of 47.

Liu Zongyuan and Han Yu were both the advocates and founders of the ancient prose movement in the Tang Dynasty.
