Part One: The September 18th Incident
1. History: On September 18, 1931, the Japanese army created the Liutiao Lake Incident and used it as an excuse to attack Beidaying, where the Northeastern Army was stationed, and bombard Shenyang City.
2. Result: Chiang Kai-shek's "non-resistance policy" resulted in the collapse of the Northeastern Army without a fight, the Japanese army occupied Shenyang, and the three Northeastern provinces fell four months later.
3. Impact: The September 18th Incident became the starting point of the Chinese People’s War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and opened the prelude to the world’s anti-fascist war. From then on, the Chinese people began an arduous war of resistance.
Mainland policy: It is Japan’s policy since the Meiji Restoration that it was “unwilling to be an island nation” and based on the use of war for external expansion. It is the main feature and manifestation of Japan’s modern militarism. The “mainland policy” is divided into five phases:
Conquer Taiwan in the first phase;
The second phase conquered Korea;
The third phase conquered Manchuria and Mongolia;
The fourth phase conquers all of China;
The fifth issue conquers Southeast Asia, Asia and the whole world.
Reasons for Japan’s invasion of China in 1931:
1. International situation: From 1929 to 1933, a serious economic crisis occurred in the capitalist world. Japan got rid of the domestic crisis by invading Northeast China;
2. Domestic situation: Chiang Kai-shek "encircled and suppressed" the Red Army, and the civil war between the Kuomintang and the Communist Party gave Japan an opportunity to take advantage of it.
4. The establishment of the Puppet Manchukuo: In the spring of 1932, Japan supported Puyi, the last emperor of the Qing Dynasty who had long abdicated, to establish the Puppet Manchukuo in Changchun in an attempt to separate Northeast China from China.

Result: China and Japan signed the "Songhu Armistice Agreement"
6. The Chinese people’s local war of resistance begins:
The September 18th Incident aroused the anti-Japanese anger of the people across the country. The people of Northeast China and the Northeast Army that had not withdrawn organized an anti-Japanese volunteer army to resist the Japanese invasion. The Communist Party of China sent Yang Jingyu and others to organize guerrillas in Northeast China to launch the anti-Japanese guerrilla war. In early 1936, various anti-Japanese forces in Northeast China were reorganized into the Northeast Anti-Japanese Allied Forces.

1. Great Wall War of Resistance
In January 1933, the Japanese army captured Shanhaiguan and advanced southward. The Chinese army rose up to resist, fighting the Japanese army along the Great Wall, Chahar and other places, and regained ______ and other places.
2. Japan planned the "North China Autonomy Movement"
In the second half of 1935, Japan launched the so-called "North China Autonomy Movement" in an attempt to separate the five provinces of North China from Chinese territory.

1. Background:
(1) With the fall of Northeast China and the crisis in North China, the national contradiction between China and Japan has become the main contradiction.
(2) Inspired by the CCP’s anti-Japanese national united front policy, Zhang Xueliang and Yang Hucheng asked Chiang Kai-shek to unite with the CCP to resist Japan, but their repeated requests were in vain.
2. Process:
(1) Time: December 12, 1936
