"Send to Judge Han Chuo of Yangzhou" PPT

Part One: Information Treasure Bag

Du Mu (AD 803 - about 852), courtesy name Muzhi, also known as Fanchuan Jushi, Han nationality, was born in Jingzhao Wannian (now Xi'an, Shaanxi Province) and was a poet of the Tang Dynasty. Du Mu was called "Xiao Du" to distinguish him from Du Fu. Together with Li Shangyin, he is known as "Little Li Du".

This poem was written by Du Mu when he was appointed as the supervisory censor and returned to Chang'an to serve in the Huainan Jiedushi shogunate.

Yangzhou in the Tang Dynasty was the most prosperous city in the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River, with numerous shops, merchants, restaurants, and pavilions. Du Mu, who had a "wild and wild nature", often visited brothels and prostitutes in such an environment, and had many romantic affairs. Han Chuo was his colleague in this regard, so he wrote poems and sent them to him after returning to Chang'an.

The poet stood by the river and vaguely saw the green mountains on the other side of the river, hidden in the sky. The river was like a belt, and the two overlapping words "faint" and "far away" not only painted a picture of the beautiful mountains and clear waters, but also the graceful and colorful scenery of the south of the Yangtze River. It also vaguely hints at the long distance between the poet and his friends, and the gentle tone of the poet's longing for the south of the Yangtze River seems to be rippling in the melodious tone.

PPT sent to Judge Han Chuo of Yangzhou, the third part: detailed explanation of the text

The green mountains are faint and the water is far away

The poet stood by the river and vaguely saw the green mountains on the other side of the river, hidden in the sky. The river was like a belt, and the two overlapping words "faint" and "far away" not only painted a picture of the beautiful mountains and clear waters, but also the graceful and colorful Jiangnan style. It also vaguely hints at the long distance between the poet and his friends, and the gentle tone of the poet's longing for the south of the Yangtze River seems to be rippling in the melodious tone.

Autumn ends, the grass in the south of the Yangtze River has not withered yet

The poet stood in the north of the Yangtze River and thought about the autumn scenery in the south of the Yangtze River - it was past late autumn at this time. The grass and trees in the north of the Yangtze River where I was had already withered and looked like the depression and desolation of late autumn. However, the vegetation in the south of the Yangtze River had not yet withered. It was still green mountains and green waters, and the scenery remained the same. Charming and beautiful.

Twenty-Four Bridges on a Moonlit Night

There are countless beautiful scenery in the south of the Yangtze River, but the most beautiful impression in my memory is the moonlit night on the Twenty-Four Bridge in Yangzhou.

Twenty-Four Bridges, one says there were twenty-four bridges in Yangzhou City originally, another says it is the Wu Family Brick Bridge, so named because there were twenty-four beauties playing flutes on the bridge in ancient times.

The purpose of the poet's description of the rainbow-like bridges at the time of naming is to reflect the faint green mountains and the long flowing water. He writes about the beauty of Yangzhou's mountains, water and night, which also serves as a foil for the appearance of the jade woman.

Where can a beautiful woman teach me how to play the flute?

Han Chuo, my old friend, when autumn comes to an end, where will you teach beauties to play the flute for fun every night?

The poet was originally asking about his friend's current situation, but he deliberately teased Han Chuo in a joking tone, asking him like this. Not only was Han Chuo's suave talent and appearance vaguely visible, but the close and deep friendship between the two could be relived.

PPT sent to Judge Han Chuo of Yangzhou, part 4: summary of the theme

From the melodious sound of the flute, it seems that the poet's tenderness of missing Jiangnan is still rippling. Please look at Ouyang Xiu's "Traveling on the Shasha":

The sorrow of separation gradually becomes infinite, and the distance continues like spring water.

Pingwu is full of green hills, and pedestrians are even outside the green hills.

This illustrates the implication of Du Mu’s poem. Although the season has passed late autumn at this time, the vegetation in the south of the Yangtze River has not yet withered, and the scenery is still charming and beautiful. Precisely because the poet couldn't bear the depression and neglect in late autumn, he was particularly attached to the green mountains and green waters of the south of the Yangtze River, and missed his old friends far away in the lively and flowery land.

Tips on writing

The poet misses the bustling old tourist place very much. It is a good learning method to combine the information collected before class to assist in understanding the meaning of poetry.

PPT sent to Judge Han Chuo of Yangzhou, part 5: expansion and improvement

The whole poem can really be said to contain feelings in the scenery, and feelings in the scenery. These two lines of poetry are intended to exaggerate the autumn scenery of the south of the Yangtze River with beautiful mountains and clear waters and evergreen vegetation. They are intended to provide a beautiful background for the imaginary life pictures in the next two lines. The association it evokes is not the dissolute life of a romantic scholar, but the infinite yearning for the scenery of the south of the Yangtze River: if it is so beautiful after autumn is over, how charming will it be when spring is strong? Let us read this poem again with this deep affection for our friends and our hometown.

spiritual enlightenment

Through the study of this lesson, we feel that Gulliver gained understanding and respect with his kindness and tolerance in the hostile, strange and language-impaired Lilliputian country.

PPT sent to Judge Han Chuo of Yangzhou, part six: practice in class

In your own words, explain the meaning of the following poem

The green mountains are faint and the water is far away, and the grass in the south of the Yangtze River has not withered after autumn.

"Far away" means that the river is long and far away. One word is "Yao Yao", and "Wither" means withering.

The meaning of these two poems is that the green mountains are faintly green and the water flows long, and the vegetation in the late autumn in the south of the Yangtze River has not yet withered. The bright moonlight shines on the Twenty-Four Bridge. Are you still listening to the beauty playing the flute?

What feelings does the poet express in this poem?

This poem expresses the poet's feelings of missing his friends.
