"Seven Laws·Long March" PPT courseware 8
"Seven Rules·Long March"
October 1935
The Red Army is not afraid of the difficulties of the expedition, and it can only wait for thousands of rivers and mountains.
The five ridges are meandering and the waves are flowing, and the fog is majestic and the mud balls are walking.
The golden sand and water are warm against the clouds and the cliffs are warm, while the iron cables across the Dadu Bridge are cold.
I am even more happy that there is thousands of miles of snow in Minshan Mountain, and the three armies are all happy after the passing.
Long March: In order to go north to resist Japan, crush the encirclement and suppression by the Kuomintang reactionaries, and preserve its own strength, the Chinese Workers’ and Peasants’ Red Army set out from Ruijin, Jiangxi in October 1934. They traveled all the way across mountains and rivers, crossed five ridges, broke through the Wujiang River, crossed Chishui four times, crossed the Mengshan Mountains, and made a clever crossing. They crossed the Jinsha River, forcibly crossed the Dadu River, captured the Luding Bridge by flying, climbed snow-capped mountains, and crossed grasslands, defeating many enemy pursuits and interceptions. In October 1935, the main force of the Red Army finally successfully arrived in northern Shaanxi and completed the world-famous 25,000-mile Long March.
Expedition: refers to the 25,000-mile Long March of the Red Army.
Ten Thousand Rivers and Thousands of Mountains: Virtual finger refers to mountains with lots of water.
Idle things: ordinary things.
Learning summary
"The Red Army is not afraid of the difficulties of the expedition, and the thousands of rivers and mountains are just waiting." These two sentences are the general outline of the whole poem, and they are written with great momentum. It highly summarizes the unprecedented heroism and indomitable courage displayed by the Red Army during the entire Long March under the leadership of Mao Zedong and the Party Central Committee.
The three words "difficulties in expedition" summed up all the difficulties encountered by the Red Army during the Long March. "Expedition" refers to the distance and length of the Long March; "difficulty" refers to the great sacrifices and suffering experienced in the Long March. In the face of all difficulties and hardships, the Red Army's answer was "not afraid" and "just wait and see", which fully demonstrated the steely revolutionary will and fearless heroism of the Red Army soldiers, and also set a brisk, heroic and extraordinary tone for the whole poem.
Wuling: It is the collective name for the five mountains, which are distributed in the five provinces of Jiangxi, Hunan, Guangdong, Guangxi and Guizhou. The mountains are undulating and winding, and are thousands of miles long.
Winding: the appearance of a curved and continuous shape.
Tengxilang: small rolling waves.
Wumeng: It is the watershed between Jinsha River and Beipan River. Located in the northern part of the East Yunnan Plateau and the northwest of the Guizhou Plateau, running northeast-southwest, it is a young mountainous area formed by fault uplift, and is mostly composed of Upper Paleozoic limestone. 250 kilometers long. The altitude is about 2,000 meters, with the highest peak at 4,000 meters, 500 to 1,000 meters higher than the nearby plateau.
Majestic: majestic.
Zou Ni Wan: A small ball of mud that rolls under your feet.
Learning summary
"The five mountains are meandering and the waves are flowing, and the clouds are majestic and the mud balls are moving." These two sentences closely follow the "ten thousand rivers and thousands of mountains" in the previous sentence, and first write about the mountains in detail.
This intentional reduction of human visual proportions is precisely to contrast the Red Army and highlight the tall image and spiritual power of the Red Army who dare to defy and overcome all difficulties.
Learning summary
"I'm even more happy with the thousands of miles of snow in Minshan Mountain, and the three armies are all happy after the victory." The last two sentences describe the final journey of the Long March, which is the climax of the whole poem.
The word "Gengxi" connects the previous and the following. On the one hand, it expresses the optimism of the Red Army soldiers under extremely difficult conditions, and on the other hand, it expresses the Red Army soldiers' beautiful yearning and confidence in the future of the revolution.
When this poem was written, the Second and Fourth Front Armies of the Red Army were on the march and had not yet crossed the Min Mountain. But Mao Zedong hoped and missed that they would be able to overcome natural dangers, break through the enemy's encirclement and interception, overcome Zhang Guotao's separatism, complete the mission of the Long March, and successfully join the Red Army. Therefore, the term "three armies" fully expressed Mao Zedong's ardent hope and trust in the commanders and soldiers of the Red Army's Second and Fourth Front Armies, and also expressed his confidence and revolutionary optimism in winning all the victories in the Long March.
