Some African children live in grass huts with poor conditions. Due to insufficient food and drinking water, as well as lack of medical treatment, many children are waiting to die from hunger and disease.

Two summers later, on a hot morning, eight-year-old Ryan and his mother came to drought-stricken Uganda. The car drove into a village. More than 5,000 children stood on both sides of the road. They shouted excitedly: "Ryan! Ryan!" and clapped their hands rhythmically. Ryan waved to them sheepishly. The elders in the village took him to a well, which was surrounded by flowers and engraved on it: "Ryan's well - for this painful society." He also saw a vegetable garden and goats beside the well. He danced and cheered with the local children.

Small information

The Ryan's Wells Foundation has built 30 wells in eight African countries. This ordinary boy, known as the "Soul of Canada", influences more and more people to love and help them. “Believe in your dreams” is something Ryan often says. He told people with his actions, "The world is an interconnected puzzle. Let the world have clean water. Everyone should go out to discover their passion and work hard for their dreams." On September 30, 2002, he accepted The National Medal of Honor was awarded by Governor General Clarkson of Canada. In October, as the only Canadian, he was named one of the "Top Ten Young Heroes of North America".
