Huanghuagang Uprising

The Huanghuagang Uprising was an uprising launched by the Chinese Tongmenghui in Guangzhou in the year of 1911. It is also known as the "Xinhai Guangzhou Uprising", "March 29 Guangzhou Uprising" and "The Battle of Huanghuagang". At 5:30 pm on April 27, 1911, Huang Xing led more than 120 death squads to attack the Governor-General's Office of Guangdong and Guangxi and launched the Guangzhou Uprising, the tenth armed uprising of the Tongmenghui. The uprising failed and many revolutionaries died heroically. The remains of 72 of them were collected and buried in Honghuagang in the eastern suburbs of Guangzhou by Pan Dawei and others. Pan Dawei also changed the name of Honghuagang to Huanghuagang. This uprising was therefore called the "Huanghuagang Uprising".
