The "Anshi Rebellion" that shocked the Tang Dynasty in 763 AD was finally put down. When Du Fu, who was worried about the country and the people, heard the news, his mood changed from dull to cheerful. The poet returned to his old residence and saw that the people were living in peace again. The vibrant spring scenery beside the Huanhua River in front of the thatched cottage made me feel very happy. I couldn't help but write this popular poem. Since I didn't have a title in advance, I used the name of the quatrain as a poem title.

Du Fu (712-770), whose courtesy name is Zimei and who calls himself Shaoling Yelao, is of Han nationality. His ancestral home is Xiangyang, Xiangzhou (now Xiangyang, Hubei). It is generally believed that he was born in Gong County (now Gongyi, Henan). A great realist poet in the prosperous Tang Dynasty. His representative works include "Three Officials" ("Xin'an Officials", "Shihao Officials", "Tongguan Officials"), "Three Farewells" ("Newlywed Farewell", "Elderly Farewell", "No Home Farewell"), etc. He was concerned about the country and the people, and had a noble personality. He wrote more than 1,500 poems in his life, and his poetic skills were exquisite. He was honored as the "Sage of Poetry" by later generations.

Appreciation of the whole poem

The whole poem seems to be one sentence per scene, four independent pictures. What is consistent and makes it constitute a unified artistic conception is the poet's inner emotion. At the beginning, the spring scenery of the thatched cottage was shown, and the poet's mood was peaceful. However, as his eyes wandered and the scenery changed, the appearance of the river boat touched his nostalgia. Four sentences of scenery completely express the poet's complex and detailed inner thought activities.
