1. Pingju Opera and its Origin

Pingju, Pingju is a type of Han opera spread in northern my country. In the late Qing Dynasty, it was formed on the basis of the ditty "Counterpart Lotus Falls" in Luanxian County, Hebei Province. It was first popular in rural areas of Hebei Province, and then entered Tangshan, where it was called "Tangshan Luozi". It became popular in the Northeast around the 1920s, and a number of actresses emerged. After the 1930s, the performance of Pingju Opera became increasingly mature under the influence of Peking Opera, Hebei Bangzi and other operas, and schools such as Bai Yushuang, Xicailian, and Ailianjun emerged. 2. The history and development of Pingju Opera

Ping Opera, one of the five major opera types in my country, was once named the second largest opera type in the country by Premier Zhou. It is very popular in North China, Northeast China and some other regions.

It was formed in Tangshan around 1909. It is also known as "Bengbeng Opera" or "Luozi Opera", and also has other titles such as "Pingqiang Bangzi Opera", "Tangshan Luozi", "Fengtian Luozi", "Ping Opera", and "Pingxi Opera". When the Bengbeng Opera was performed in Shanghai in 1935, because many of the repertoires had new ideas of "punishing evil and promoting good" and "commenting on the past and the present", the famous Lu Haihuan's suggestion was adopted and the name was changed to "Ping Opera". In 1936, when Bai Yushuang was filming the film "Begonia Red" in Shanghai, the press published the name "Ping Opera" in "Ta Kung Pao" for the first time. Since then, the name of Ping Opera has been widely spread across the country.

5. The singing style of Pingju opera

The male and female accents of Pingju Opera are based on the music of Lotus Falling and Bengbeng Opera, and gradually absorb and learn from the singing methods of Bangzi and Peking Opera. The accompaniment is mainly Huhu (banhu), and the percussion instruments are roughly the same as those in Peking Opera. The female accent of Pingju Opera was created by Yue Mingzhu and others, and the male accent was created by Ni Junsheng and others.

Pingju opera singing is based on Tangshan folk songs, Lotus Falls and other folk music, and absorbs the musical elements of Northeastern Errenzhuan, Peking Opera, Hebei Bangzi and other local operas in the eastern Hebei and Beijing-Tianjin areas. It is characterized by strong lyricism, smoothness and naturalness, and strong local flavor. The singing style has a banqiang structure and is composed of four rhythm forms: one ban three eyes, one ban one eye, one ban no yan, and no ban no yan.
