Question: How to use make

(1) When make is used as a verb, it means "to make; to do", it is often used in sentences: make sth. for sb.= make sb. sth., which means "to make something for someone".

(2) Make is used as a causative verb, which means "to make; to let". The common structure is: make + object + do sth./adjective/prepositional phrase.

Example:

The news makes me happy.

Question: How to use pass

(1) When pass is used as a verb, it means "to pass; to transmit". It is often used in the sentence pattern: pass sth. to sb. = pass sb. sth., which means "pass something to someone."

Example: Please pass me the book. = Please pass the book to me.

(2) Pass is used as a verb, which means "walk past; pass by", which is equivalent to go/walk past or go by.

Example: He passed the bakery.

= He went/walked past the bakery.

Test topic: How to use wish

(1) Wish as a noun means "hope; wish". When used as plural wishes, it means "wishes; good intentions".

Structure: best wishes to +sb., expressing wishes to someone. best wishes for + festival, expresses greetings to the festival.

For example: Best wishes to you! Beautiful wishes to you! Good wishes for the New Year! Happy New Year to you!

(2) wish is used as a verb to express "hope". The common structure is: wish to do sth./ wish sb. to do sth./ wish + that clause (commonly used subjunctive mood) (note the difference with hope)
