Say the lines

It turns out that acting is very simple. You just need to memorize your lines and add actions to express them when you go on stage. This time I personally rehearsed and performed on stage, and I realized that acting is not an easy task, and speaking the lines is not just a matter of simply reading them out. ①

First of all, of course you still have to memorize your lines. Forgetting your lines on stage is a terrible thing. Memorizing lines is the same as memorizing texts, and must be done on the basis of understanding. Memorizing by rote without understanding the character's thoughts is not conducive to discovering the character's emotional changes and responding accordingly. When you memorize your lines with understanding, your lines will come out naturally and your performance will be more attractive to the audience. ②

Memorizing the lines well is not enough, you also need to fully understand the characters. When speaking lines on stage, you should understand that it is not "you" who speaks the lines, but the character you play. Characters with different social status, educational background, and family background will treat the same line very differently in the play. Therefore, when reading the script and rehearsing, you should have a thorough understanding of every word and action of the character. Through the character's personality, temperament and other characteristics, you should repeatedly figure out the psychological activities of the character when he speaks, so that you can become one with the character. Only in this way can the lines be spoken with true feelings. ③In order to deepen your understanding of the characters, you can write a biography of the characters during rehearsal.
