The formation of Peking Opera
Peking Opera has a history of more than 200 years and is named after it was formed in Beijing. In 1790, the 80th birthday of Emperor Qianlong, four major Hui troupes came to Beijing and brought Erhuang tune with them; at the beginning of the 19th century, Hubei artists came to Beijing to participate in Hui troupe performances and added Xipi tune, which was later combined with Xipi tune to absorb Kun Opera, The strengths of Qin Opera and other operas were combined with local folk tunes to form Peking Opera. The true formation should be after 1840.
Peking Opera singing
The singing tune of Peking Opera is mainly Pihuang tune, and its use of Pihuang tune is the most mature and perfect among all the operas that use Pihuang tune. Pihuang tune refers to the two vocal tunes of Xipi and Erhuang.
Xipi tune evolved from the combination of Qin Opera and folk music in Xiangyang area. It is vigorous and lively, and is good at expressing flexible, high-spirited and cheerful emotions. Erhuang tune was formed in the south. It has calm tunes, desolate and deep, and is good at expressing sadness and anger.
