Part 1: Importing new lessons

Bai Juyi, the great poet of the Tang Dynasty, described Yang Guifei in "Song of Everlasting Sorrow": Looking back, she is full of beauty when she smiles, and the pink and white in the sixth palace are colorless. He also described the relationship between Emperor Xuanzong of the Tang Dynasty and Concubine Yang Guifei: In heaven, I wish to be a winged bird, and on earth, I wish to be a twig. As time goes by, this hatred will last forever. The poem about the murder of Concubine Yang goes like this: The king hid his face and could not save her, looking back at the blood and tears flowing freely. After the death of Concubine Yang Guifei, Emperor Xuanzong of the Tang Dynasty felt as follows: the blue sky above was poor and the yellow spring was below, and both places were nowhere to be seen. Suddenly I heard that there was a fairy mountain on the sea. The mountain was in the void. Today we study Li Shangyin's "Mawei" and see how Li Shangyin evaluates the love between Tang Xuanzong and Yang Guifei.

Mawei PPT, part 2: Introduction to the author

Li Shangyin (about 813-858), a poet of the late Tang Dynasty, was born in Hanoi, Huaizhou (now Qinyang County, Henan Province). Li Shangyin lived in the late Tang Dynasty when the Tang Empire was declining day by day. He was deeply dissatisfied with the current situation of the emperor being fatuous, the eunuchs in power, and the vassal towns being domineering. He longed for innovation and applied for the Jinshi examination three times. In the second year of Kaicheng (837), he won the Jinshi examination due to Linghu's recommendation. He once served as county captain, secretary Lang, and judge of the Eastern Sichuan Festival. Due to the influence of Niu (Sengru) and Li (Deokyu)'s party struggle, he was always marginalized and spent his life in the life of a staff with low salary and low status. His friend Cui Jue said in the poem "Crying for Li Shangyin": "I have been vain and talented, and I have never opened my arms in my life." Li Shangyin died of depression at the age of forty-six.

There are more than 600 existing poems by Li Shangyin, covering a wide range of contents. Some express the painful feelings of political frustration, some reflect the political life of the late Tang Dynasty, and some are historical works that satirize the present and refer to the past. There is also a type of untitled poems describing love life, which are most loved by future generations of readers.

His poem "Bixing" is based on "The Book of Songs", "Beauty Herb" is based on "Li Sao", its depth and melancholy are derived from Du Fu's poems, and his gorgeous imagination and language directly benefit from Li He. The poem makes good use of historical allusions and myths and legends to form rich and colorful artistic images through imagination, association and symbolism.

Li Shangyin's poems are innovative in conception, gorgeous in words, rich in imagination, and gentle and lingering in style. Some works have a strong sentimental tone, use too many allusions, and are obscure and difficult to understand. There is "Li Yishan Poetry Collection".

Mawei PPT, the third part: problem exploration

What event is the background of this poem, and which couplets in the poem describe this event?

Mawei incident, chin couplet and neck couplet

1. The allusion used in the first couplet. Xuanzong heard from a magician that Concubine Yang still remembered the oath of "we will be husband and wife forever" on the fairy mountain. What is the purpose?

It seems to be written that Xuanzong longed for his imperial concubine, but it actually satirizes Xuanzong of the Tang Dynasty for his wishful thinking.

2. What life scenes are shown in the two sentences of the couplet? What techniques were used to express the author's point of view?

Contrast technique.

"Tiger Brigade Biography of Watchers" writes about the discomfort of fleeing life. The "Tiger Brigade" was originally intended for patrolling and guarding, but calling it "empty news" had the opposite meaning. Although the "Tiger Brigade" "passed on the Night Watch", it was not to protect the safety of the emperor and the imperial concubine, but to protect the safety of the emperor and the imperial concubine. A mutiny was launched; "Chicken Man's Announcement" writes about the peace and happiness of life in the palace, and also implies that Emperor Xuanzong of the Tang Dynasty longed to enjoy the peace and happiness of the past, but "Wu Fu" points out that this hope has been disillusioned, "Wu Fu" and "Wu Fu" "Empty Wen" is relatively different, using the technique of contrast and contrast, the different situations and moods of past joy and present pain, past peace and present danger are vividly displayed on the page.

3. What techniques are used in the neck joint and what meaning does it express?

"This day" refers to the death day of Concubine Yang. Xuanzong "at that time" Qixi Festival and Yang Guifei "secretly vowed to each other". He once laughed at the morning glory and the Weaver Girl who could only meet each other once a year, but the two of them would "be a couple for the rest of their lives" and never be separated. But when they met " "When the Sixth Army does not send out troops", what will be the result? With the two contrasting against each other, it is not difficult to understand the ending of Concubine Yang's "given" death, and Xuanzong's hypocritical and selfish nature is also fully exposed.

At the same time, "The Chinese Valentine's Day laughs at the morning glory" is a typical summary of Xuanzong's obsession with women and his neglect of political affairs. When compared with "Six armies stationed on the same horse", it shows the causal relationship between the two. Without the debauchery of "then", how could there be the separation of "today"? And when Xuanzong indulged in sensuality "at that time", he never considered "this day" when he "sent death" to his beloved concubine!

Mawei PPT, Part 4: Writing Characteristics

1. Flashback technique

From the perspective of composition, this epic poem adopts the technique of flashback. Let's first talk about the absurdity of Tang Xuanzong's "soul-summoning act", then trace the desolation after the Mawei Incident, and finally point out the essence of the problem. It can be said that there are twists and turns, and deep twists and turns. In addition, the fifth and sixth sentences are also "reverse": "At that time, the Chinese Valentine's Day laughed at the morning glory" happened first, but it was said later; "On this day, the six armies were stationed together" happened later, but it was written first. This is where Li Shangyin learned from Du Fu. Although his poems are not as "depressed" as Du's poems, they are quite similar to Du's poems' "frustration": like water flow encountering obstruction, looping around and swallowing, ready to go, with ups and downs.

2. Dual sentence pattern

This poem makes good use of duality. The two couplets in the middle only have four sentences and 28 words, but they call for chickens to drive away tigers, and horses and cows to ride on. They are easy to pick up, and they are natural and fluent; they are full of wit and fun, but there is no suspicion of being cryptic. In addition, the use of "Six Army" to "Qixi Festival" and the use of "Zhu Ma" to "Qian Niu" are all wonderful uses of pairs. The so-called borrowed pairs refer to dialogues that are relative in form, but do not belong to the same category in content, and are often far apart. For example, "Garrisoning Horses" means that the army is stagnant, while "Qian Niu" refers to the Altair star, and does not mean leading the cow away. There are many such borrowings and pairs in Du Fu's poems, such as "The wild sun is desolate and white, the spring flow is clear" ("Man Cheng"), using "qing" (green) versus "white". In this regard, Li Shangyin also learned from Du Fu, but it can be said that "the master is better than the master". After the Tang and Song Dynasties, the rhythmic poetry pairing was often based on borrowing pairs, because it was not easy and full of humor. for this song

Mawei PPT, Part 5: Artistic Characteristics

1. The combination of "poetry" and "history": allusions and puns

2. The combination of "hymenting history" and "expressing ambition": borrowing the past to satirize the present, borrowing scenery to express emotions (borrowing the past to chant feelings)

3. The combination of “ancient” and “modern”: the combination of reality and reality, contrast and contrast

Mawei PPT, Part Six: Thoughts and Emotions

Feel more deeply about personal destiny and criticize the essence of society.

Specifically:

1. Country - the national destiny declined and the territory was lost (mostly the Song Dynasty)

2. Rulers - mediocre, decadent, arrogant and extravagant

3. Ancient land - prosperity in the past and decline in the present, vicissitudes of human affairs

4. The ancients - great ambitions are hard to realize, and there is no way to serve the country.
