About the Author

Jia Pingwa (wā), formerly known as Jia Pingwa, was born on February 21, 1952, a contemporary Chinese writer. A native of Danfeng County, Shangluo City, Shaanxi Province. Jia Pingwa was born in a rural area that was not wealthy. He was not from a scholarly family. His family had been farmers for generations. Graduated from the Chinese Department of Northwest University in 1975.

Jia Pingwa began publishing works in 1974. He is the author of novel collections "Jia Pingwa's Award-winning Novels", "Jia Pingwa's Selected Works", novels "Shangzhou", "White Night", autobiographical novel "I am a Farmer", etc. "Twelfth and First Moon" won the 3rd National Outstanding Novella Award of the Chinese Writers Association; "Full Moon" won the 1978 National Outstanding Short Story Award; "Qin Opera" won the 7th Mao Dun Literature Award in 2008.
