Yang Jiang (1911-2016), whose real name is Yang Jikang, was a writer and translator from Wuxi, Jiangsu. He is the author of the plays "A Wishful Desire", "Making Fake Come True", the novel "Taking a Bath", essay collections "Will Drink Tea", "Six Notes on the Cadre School", etc., and has translated into "The Little Leper", "Don Quixote", "Gil Blas", etc.
Qian Zhongshu (1910-1998) was a native of Wuxi, Jiangsu Province. His original name was Yangxian and his courtesy name was Zheliang. Later he changed his name to Zhongshu, his courtesy name was Mocun and his pseudonym was Huaiju. He once used the pen name Zhongshujun. He was a modern Chinese writer and literary researcher. In 1929, Qian Zhongshu was admitted to the Foreign Languages Department of Tsinghua University. In 1932, he met Yang Jiang in front of Guyue Hall of Tsinghua University. In 1937, he received a bachelor's degree from Oxford University. In 1941, he completed the writing of "Talking about Art" and "Written on the Edge of Life". In 1947, his novel "Fortress Besieged" was published by Shanghai Chenguang Publishing Company. Background information
In 1966, the "Cultural Revolution" broke out, and both Qian Zhongshu and Yang Jiang were "outed" and considered "bourgeois academic authorities" and "reactionary academic authorities", and fell into the camp of "ghosts and monsters". Someone wrote a big-character poster to falsely accuse Qian Zhongshu of despising the leader's writings. Qian Zhongshu and his wife clarified the false accusation with facts. In November 1969, Qian Zhongshu went to the "May 7th Cadre School" in Henan as an "advance team" to receive labor training. In July 1970, Yang Jiang also came to the cadre school. In March 1972, Qian Zhongshu and his wife returned home from the cadre school and were severely beaten and persecuted by the "revolutionary men and women" living in their home. They were forced to flee home and lived in exile for three years.
The article was written in 1984. This is a retrospective article. The author narrates several episodes of his previous interactions with Lao Wang. It was during the "Cultural Revolution" and the author and his wife were considered "reactionary academic authorities." However, any unhealthy tendencies had no impact on Lao Wang, and he still respected the author and his wife. From this, the interaction with Lao Wang was deeply imprinted in the author's mind...

overall perception
1.Who is Lao Wang? What does the author tell us about Lao Wang? What do you read from this information? Read the text carefully to find relevant information.
Read and study carefully
Faced with a difficult life, what did Lao Wang do? What events does the author describe in his interactions with Lao Wang? What qualities of Lao Wang are displayed? Read the text again with the questions in mind and think about the answers.
Which part of the article moved you the most? What details struck you in this clip? Read it emotionally and talk about it.
Example: Lao Wang also gave eggs and sesame oil before his death.
I forced a smile and said, "Lao Wang, are you giving us such fresh big eggs?"
He just said: "I won't eat."
The short words reveal Lao Wang's simplicity and honesty, which makes people sad to read.
The word "inlaid" uses exaggerated rhetoric to illustrate Lao Wang's emaciation, stiffness, and lifeless pathology, implying that Lao Wang is not far from death.
One day, I heard a knock on the door at home. When I opened the door, I saw Lao Wang stiffly embedded in the door frame. Usually he comes into my house sitting on a tricycle, or slouching with his arms in his arms, and he doesn't look so tall. Maybe he's not so thin or stiff normally.
The comparison between the past appearance and the current appearance truly shows that Lao Wang's body is extremely weak and his life is about to pass away.
Lao Wang PPT, part 2: second lesson
In the last class, we focused on understanding the content of the article and analyzing the characters of Lao Wang and the author. In this lesson, let us go into the text again and analyze the language characteristics and themes of this article.
collaborative inquiry
1. Ms. Yang Jiang’s literary language is simple in nature, but full of spirit and unique charm. Try to compare the differences in semantics, emotional color, and expression effect of the following three sets of sentences.
①Of course we don’t want him to halve the fee.
"Of course" is used here, what kind of psychology does "our" reveal?
Say "of course" when it's logical to do so. This shows that the author's family was sincere in helping Lao Wang before and did not ask Lao Wang to repay him. The author's family also sympathized with Lao Wang's poor life and never had the idea of taking advantage.
②He never saw that we were pushy customers, and he probably didn’t even think about it.
What do "from" and "fundamentally" emphasize? Are "probably" and "not at all" contradictory?
"Cong" emphasizes that it has never happened before, "fundamentally" emphasizes that it has never happened at all, "probably" indicates that this is the author's speculation, and "fundamentally" indicates that the author firmly believes in Lao Wang's honesty and kindness, and he will never Have thoughts of bullying customers.
③I also quickly explained: "I know, I know - but since you are here, you don't have to ask someone to take you with you."
Why did "I" say that?
"I know" is repeated twice to show the author's respect for Lao Wang, because Lao Wang emphasized that "I am not asking for money." The sentence pattern of "But... since... then" strengthens the euphemistic tone, indicating that the author is afraid that Lao Wang will be embarrassed to accept the money, so he uses this method to make Lao Wang accept the money decently.

Vulnerable groups are like small flowers and grass growing in corners. They need more sunlight and moisture. A bright smile, a warm greeting, and a small help are all great support for them. Please don't be stingy with your love, even if it's just a little bit, it's still a beautiful song!
Writing features
❶Seeing the big from the small has profound meaning.
Articles can describe a person's most charming personality characteristics and establish a "person" image by narrating some small things. Homework
This article gives a wonderful description of Lao Wang’s portrait when he came to “my” house to deliver eggs. Please write a fragment that clearly expresses the character's personality, about 200 words.
Example: The door was pushed open with force, and due to the inertia of the door panel, a dent was made in the wall. He threw himself into his brother's arms and cried loudly. The tears were enough to flood the whole room, but his brother had a gentle look on his face: "What's wrong?" He looked up, his big eyes shining like stars had been filled with countless liters of water, and he looked pitiful as if Abandoned by everyone. "I didn't do well in the exam! What should I do?" He yelled aggrievedly, and the whole building was shocked. The elder brother gently wiped away his tears, and the tenderness in his eyes seemed to have been accumulated for several lifetimes: "It doesn't matter, there's still me." He finally broke through his tears and smiled, and the corners of his mouth seemed to reach behind his ears.
