Description
"Land Resources" China's natural resources PPT courseware 7
1. More people and less land
Not all land is farmland!
Yes, only land that can grow crops and be cultivated regularly is called cultivated land.
(1) China’s land area is about the same as that of the United States, but why is its total cultivated land area less than that of the United States and its per capita cultivated land area smaller than that of the United States?
(2) India has a large population, but its land area is less than 1/3 of China’s. Why is the total arable land area and per capita arable land area larger than China’s?
2. Complete types
1. According to the picture, in which areas are China’s difficult-to-use lands mainly distributed?
The arid deserts of Xinjiang and Inner Mongolia, and the alpine deserts of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau.
3. Obvious regional differences
Cultivated land is mainly distributed in plains, basins and low and gentle hilly areas in the eastern monsoon region. Cultivated land in the west is less and scattered.
Woodland is mainly distributed in remote mountainous areas in the northeast and southwest. The woodland in the southeastern mountainous area is mostly artificial forest and secondary forest. There are very few woodlands in northwest and northern China.
Grassland is mainly distributed in the northern and western inland areas, with less grassland in the east and scattered distribution.
Activity
(1) Connect the following areas with the main land types with straight lines.
(2) The water consumption of tree growth is much greater than that of shrubs and herbs. Some people have vividly compared trees in arid and semi-arid areas to "water pumps." In arid and semi-arid areas, is it better to plant trees or grass? Tell us what you think.
Cultivated land utilization issues and management measures
1. Cultivated land utilization issues—cultivated land area is decreasing day by day
Per capita arable land is small, and there are not many reserve land resources that can be cultivated.
The development of industry, transportation and towns has occupied part of the cultivated land
Unreasonable use, serious damage to cultivated land
2. Measures to address land resource utilization issues
On the one hand, we must effectively protect cultivated land, improve the productivity level of cultivated land, and turn low-yield fields into high-yield fields.
Secondly, we should appropriately reclaim wasteland, improve the utilization rate of land resources, and stabilize the total amount of cultivated land.
Grassland utilization issues and management measures
1. Grassland utilization issues
Due to long-term dependence on the weather for raising livestock, overloaded grazing or abandoning grazing and destroying grass to open up wasteland, one-third of the grassland in pastoral areas has been degraded to varying degrees, and grassland productivity has dropped significantly.
2. Measures to protect grassland
In pastoral areas, it is necessary to determine a reasonable amount of livestock, or to divide areas for rotational grazing, and try to maintain the productivity of grassland.
Activity
(1) Think about it, why can the sandy land where “nothing grows” become a treasure land for growing watermelons? What “golden ideas” do you have for developing hard-to-use land in your hometown?
Selenium sand melons are produced in the Huanxiangshan area of Zhongwei, Ningxia. There is little precipitation, strong evaporation, long-term drought, and large temperature differences between day and night. Local melon farmers have developed a special method of growing melons. They first spread more than 10 centimeters of gravel on dry land and then plant watermelons on it. This can reduce water evaporation during the day, and at night the water vapor condenses and seeps down through the gravel, which is not only beneficial to the growth of watermelons, but also helps the watermelons absorb the trace element selenium rich in the local soil. Through sand pressing, dry land that was originally difficult to use has been turned into a production base for high-quality watermelons.
(2) Read the materials and complete the following tasks.
China's rural areas currently have relatively large amounts of idle housing land, too many farmland ridges, irregular roads and ditches, and a lot of idle or abandoned land. Consolidating these lands, restoring them and improving their productivity will not only increase the area of cultivated land, but also improve the rural landscape and human settlements.

2. The areas with more concentrated cultivated land in my country are ( )
A. Central Tarim Basin B. Northwest Qinghai-Tibet Plateau
C. Qaidam Basin D. Sichuan Basin
