Translation: Kuafu raced with the sun, (always) catching up to the place where the sun set; he felt thirsty, (then) went to the Yellow River and the Wei River to drink water. There was not enough water from the Yellow River and the Wei River, so they turned to the big lakes in the north to drink water.

Before he arrived, Tao died of thirst.

Translation: (Kuafu) died of thirst on the way before he reached (Big Lake).

Abandoning his staff, he transformed into Deng Lin.

Translation: His abandoned walking stick turned into a peach forest.
