About the Author

Li Shangyin (about 813-about 858), a poet of the late Tang Dynasty, was born in a small bureaucratic family. He took the Jinshi exam three times and finally won the title. He once served as county captain, secretary Lang, and judge of the Eastern Sichuan Festival. Due to the influence of Niu (Sengru) and Li (Deyu)'s party struggle, he was ostracized and lived in poverty for the rest of his life. Some of his poems reveal the darkness of reality, but there are only a few of them; there are also epic poems that satirize the past and the present, and untitled poems that describe love life. The latter is the most loved by readers and is collected in "Li Yishan's Collected Poems".

His poems have unique artistic achievements, with novel ideas, gorgeous words, rich imagination, gentle and lingering style, and elegant and exquisite workmanship. However, some works have a strong sentimental tone, use too many allusions, and are obscure and difficult to understand.

"Jin Se" is also known as "Untitled". The title "Jin Se" is taken from the first two characters of the sentence. It is a widely recited poem. "Jinse": Se, the name of a musical instrument, has fifty strings and complex syllables; Jinse, a beautifully carved se. Some people think that it is a sentimental love poem written for a maid named Jinse. Some people also think that it may have other sustenance or mourning for his deceased wife, or express the secret and unspeakable love life of feudal literati. Some people think that his poem is a poet. A work that reflects on life's experiences.

Jinse PPT, Part 4: Study the text

There are fifty strings of brocade strings for no reason, each string and column is reminiscent of the past.

Why does the Jinse Qin have fifty strings? Each string reminds me of my beautiful youth.

The poet uses "jinse" to describe the beautiful "hua years", and uses "thinking" to trigger "gratuitous" questions. He goes straight to the point and points out his regret and sadness caused by looking back on the past events of his youth.

Zhuang Sheng was obsessed with butterflies in his dawn dream, and looked forward to the emperor's spring heart with cuckoos.

I once indulged in the beautiful realm like Zhuang Zhou dreaming of a butterfly. In the end, I could only entrust my sadness to Du Juan like Emperor Wang did.

"Zhuang Sheng Dreams of Butterflies" contains the poet's beautiful but very illusory spiritual sustenance; it expresses the poet's melancholy and confusion.

"The cuckoo cries for blood" contains the poet's desolation and sorrow, unable to live, but to continue his dream after death.

The moon in the sea sheds tears, and the warm sun in Lantian produces smoke.

My tears couldn't stop flowing, and the pictures of my past life were vaguely visible like wisps of jade smoke on the Jade Mountain in Lantian.

"The sea, the bright moon, the bright pearls, the teardrops", this series of images blended by association, transformed into an indistinguishable, elusive and sad wonderland;

"The sun is warm in the Lantian and the jade is producing smoke" represents an extremely beautiful thing that cannot last forever, and embodies the poet's sadness and mourning.

Jinse PPT, Part Six: Key Points of Appreciation

1. Novel ideas

At the beginning, the poem "Jinse" tells the story of "thinking about the Chinese years with every string and every pillar", which is an ardent and lingering thought. The voice tells the story of longing. The concluding sentences "I was at a loss at that time" and "Recalling this feeling" make the joys and sorrows of separation and separation even more heartbreaking. This shows the ingenuity of the author's conception.

2. Hazy beauty

The poet uses the romantic and magical imagination in "Zhuang Sheng"'s dream to bring everyone into a beautiful dream scene, which is fascinating; he also uses "Wang Di" to entrust his heart to "Cuckoo" as if he is in the atmosphere of "Cuckoo crying blood" During the visit, I even felt the depth of longing after parting. The hazy beauty in the dream is like a painting, the fog is also hazy, the water is also hazy, the mermaid is crying, and the beautiful jade in the blue field shines in the sun, as if wisps of light smoke are burning and floating slowly.

Jinse PPT, part seven: brief explanation of allusions and legends

1. Zhuang Zhou Mengdie

One day once upon a time, Zhuang Zhou dreamed that he had turned into a butterfly, a dancing butterfly. He was very happy and contented, and did not know that he was Zhuang Zhou. After a while, he woke up from his dream, but it was Zhuang Zhou who was lying stiffly in bed. I wonder if Zhuang Zhou dreamed and turned into a butterfly, or if a butterfly dreamed and turned into Zhuang Zhou? This fable is a famous piece that expresses Zhuangzi's thought of equalizing all things. Zhuangzi believes that if people can break the boundaries between life and death, things and self, they will be happy wherever they go. It is written in an ethereal way and is often quoted by philosophers and writers.

2. Watching the Emperor and Crying the Cuckoo

Emperor Wang is the title of Du Yu, the king of Shu in ancient mythology. Legend has it that he gave up his throne to his courtiers due to floods and lived in seclusion in the mountains. After his death, his soul turned into a cuckoo, with a very sad cry.

3. The shark weeps

There is a story in "Natural History" about a shark in the sea weeping.

4. Warm jade creates smoke

Legend has it that the beautiful Lantian jade is buried deep underground and cannot be seen by others, but its warm essence can penetrate the soil and rise into the air like smoke.
