"I Love This Land" PPT Courseware 7
Knowledge introduction
Ai Qing (1910--1995), poet.
In 1932, he joined the Chinese Left-wing Artists Alliance and was soon arrested and imprisoned. While in prison, he wrote the poem "Dayan River - My Nanny", which became his famous work.
"Land" and "sun" are the main images in his poems.
Time backgroud:
"I Love This Land" was written in November 1938. At that time, the Japanese invading army successively occupied vast areas of North China, East China, and South China, wreaking havoc wherever they went. As a poet, Ai Qing firmly joined the torrent of the national liberation struggle and became the "trumpet blower" of the times. He said that he "wrote poetry as a singer of a miserable race striving for liberation and throwing off their shackles."
Knowledge exploration
