The Present Continuous Tense

1. Definition: Indicates the action currently being performed.

2. Formation: be (am, is, are) + ing form of verb

3. There are often words such as now, listen, look, etc. in the sentence.

2. You are reading.

You are reading books.

3. He is playing basketball.

He is playing basketball.

The formation rules of present participle of verbs:

1. Generally, -ing is added directly after the original form of the verb.

Such as: work—working do—doing play—playing

2) For verbs ending with the silent letter e, remove the e and add -ing.

Such as: dance—dancing come—coming

3) Stress closed syllable words, (vowel + consonant). If there is only one consonant letter at the end, double the letter and add -ing.
