He Luting (1903-1999) was a composer and music educator. He participated in the Guangzhou Uprising in his early years. In 1934, his two piano pieces "Shepherd Boy Piccolo" and "Lullaby" won the first prize in the "Solicitation for Chinese Style Piano Music" organized by Russian composer and pianist Zilpin. After the founding of the People's Republic of China, he served as president of the Shanghai Conservatory of Music and vice chairman of the Chinese Musicians Association. "Guerrilla Song" was composed at the end of 1937. At that time, the author was working in the national salvation drama team. When I wrote this song, I lived in the Eighth Route Army Office in Linfen, Shanxi. When it was performed for the first time, it was warmly welcomed by the senior generals of the Eighth Route Army Headquarters. Then it spread throughout the country.
