Return is equivalent to come/go back, "return; return". To express returning to a certain place, use return to + place.

e.g. He has returned to Paris from London.

Return can also mean "return; put back; send back", which is equivalent to give back. The usage is: return sb. sth. = return sth. to sb.

e.g. She returned me the book. = She returned the book to me.

e.g.
