"Films" PPT, the third part: Language points

1. Here is some information about the films now showing at the local cinemas.

Here is information about movies currently playing in theaters.

In the sentence, "showing at the cinemas" is a present participle phrase as an attributive, modifying the preceding films.

Show means "screening, performance, exhibition" and can be used as a transitive or intransitive verb.

e.g. Tales of Old Beijing is now showing at Olympic Cinema.

"Stories of Old Beijing" is showing at Olympic Cinema.

Sunshine Cinema is now showing a film called The World of Dinosaurs.

Sunshine Cinema is showing a film called "Dinosaur World".
