Description
"Exploring the Law of Refraction of Light" Light and Eyes PPT Courseware
teaching objectives
1. Understand the phenomenon of refraction of light.
2. Understand the laws of refraction of light and be able to use the laws to analyze and explain common refraction phenomena in life.
3. Experience experiments to explore the process of refraction laws of light, and cultivate the ability to discover physical laws from phenomena through observation and analysis.
4. Observe the refraction phenomenon in life and explain its causes.
Detection Preview Exchange Display
1. Detection a. Give examples of the refraction of light in life. b. Summarize the refraction rules of light entering water from air.
c. Give examples of applications of refraction phenomena.
A substantial analysis of refraction phenomena will be performed.
Know that the refraction of light also follows the optical path and is reversible.
It can analyze the rules of light entering the air from water and summarize the rules based on the reversible light path.
1. Refraction of light
1. Interesting light refraction phenomenon
2. Refraction of light
When light is incident obliquely from one medium into another medium, the direction of propagation generally changes. This phenomenon is called refraction of light.
think about it
What is the law of reflection?
Are the laws of refraction and reflection the same?
When light is reflected, the reflected ray, incident ray and normal are in the same plane;
Reflected rays and incident rays are located on both sides of the normal;
The angle of reflection is equal to the angle of incidence.
2. Explore the laws of refraction of light
<1> Ask a question: What rules does light follow when it is refracted?
<2>Design experiment:
The following equipment is available: glass sink, water, milk, laser light, matches, protractor, etc. Please design an experiment to verify the law of refraction of light.
think:
1. How can refraction occur?
2. How can we display the light clearly?
<3> Conduct experiments:
1. Add milk dropwise to the sink filled with water.
2. Use the laser light to illuminate the sink obliquely, find out the refracted light, and observe the three-line relationship.
3. Use a protractor to measure the incident angle and refraction angle multiple times and record the data.
4. Observe the path of light along the incident refracted ray.
Laws of refraction of light
1. The refracted ray is on the same plane as the incident ray and the normal; and the refracted ray and the incident ray are separated on both sides of the normal.
2. When the angle of incidence increases, the angle of refraction also increases.
3. When light shines obliquely from air into water (or other transparent media), the refraction angle is smaller than the incident angle; when light shines from water (or other transparent media) into air, the refraction angle is larger than the incident angle.
4. When vertically irradiated, the propagation direction remains unchanged.
example. Among the following phenomena, the one that belongs to the refraction of light is ( )
A. We can see non-luminous objects from different directions
B. Man stands by the lake and sees fish in the lake
C. Some parts of the blackboard are "reflective" and the words on it cannot be seen clearly.
D. At night, shadows of people appear under the street lights
Example 4. Among the following phenomena, the one that does not belong to the refraction of light is ( )
A. The bottom of the bowl filled with water seems to have become shallower
B. See "white clouds" floating in the water on a sunny day
C. A pencil put into water with one end appears to be broken at the surface
D. See the enlarged words through the water droplets on a piece of transparent plastic paper
Operation:
Classwork: Questions 2, 3, 4, and 5 on page p64.
Tutorial (preview):
a. What is a meniscus lens? What's the difference between them? What is light heart? What is the main optical axis?
b. What effects do convex and concave lenses have on light? .
c. What are the focus and focal length of the lens? How to measure the focal length of a convex lens?
