About the Author

Han Yu (768-824), also known as Tuizhi, was a writer and philosopher in the Tang Dynasty. He was a native of Heyang, Henan (now Mengzhou, Henan). He vigorously promoted ancient prose and co-led the ancient prose movement in the Mid-Tang Dynasty with Liu Zongyuan.
