Ching Ming Festival

Qingming Festival is a festival for worshiping ancestors and sweeping tombs, and is also one of the twenty-four solar terms.

Qingming Festival is also called the Outing Festival. Most people will return to their hometowns on this day to visit their graves and worship their ancestors. There is also a legend about the origin of Qingming Festival! It is said that Qingming Festival began with the ritual of "grave sacrifices" for emperors, generals and prime ministers in ancient times. Later, people also followed suit. On that day, worshiping ancestors and sweeping their tombs gradually became a fixed custom of the Chinese nation. Originally, Cold Food Festival and Qingming Festival were two different festivals. In the Tang Dynasty, due to time constraints, the day for worshiping and sweeping tombs was designated as Qingming Festival. It is usually on April 5th of the New Calendar.

The Qingming Festival began around the Zhou Dynasty and has a history of more than 2,500 years. Qingming is a very important solar term at the beginning. Once Qingming arrives, the temperature will rise, which is a good time for spring plowing and sowing.
