"Comparing the Amount of Water" Water and Air PPT
Part One: Confirming the Speculation
Which bottle has more water and which bottle has less water?
How to confirm our guess?
Water will flow. If there is more water, it will flow for a long time.
How to compare the length of time water flows?
Water has weight. The more water, the heavier it is.
How to compare the weight of water?
Water has volume. The more water, the larger the volume.
How to compare the volume of water?
Comparing the amount of water PPT, Part 2: Measurement
If bottle No. 2 has the most water, how much more water does it have than the other bottles?
Use cups to measure, how many cups more? What if there is an extra half cup?
What happens if you use a smaller cup to measure?
What should I do if I don’t have a smaller cup?
Comparing the amount of water PPT, the third part: understanding the measuring cylinder
A graduated cylinder is a graduated glass cylinder specially used to measure the amount of liquid, that is, the volume of the liquid.
The unit of liquid volume is milliliters.
How to use a measuring cylinder
1. Pour the liquid into the measuring cylinder:
When injecting liquid into the measuring cylinder, hold the measuring cylinder with your left hand so that the measuring cylinder is slightly tilted, and hold the reagent bottle with your right hand so that the mouth of the measuring cylinder is close to the mouth of the measuring cylinder so that the liquid flows in slowly.
2. Read the volume of liquid:
Place the measuring cylinder on a flat table, inject the liquid, wait 1 to 2 minutes for the liquid attached to the inner wall to flow down, and then read the scale value. Otherwise, the value read will be too small.
When observing the scale, keep your sight level with the lowest point of the concave surface of the liquid in the measuring cylinder, and then read the volume of the liquid taken. Otherwise, the reading will be too high or too low.
