Tianjin Clay Figure Zhang

"Clay Figure Zhang" is a school of folk painted sculptures popular in the north. It was founded in the late Qing Dynasty. The founder of "Clay Figure Zhang" is Zhang Mingshan, who was born in Tianjin from a poor family. Since childhood, he and his father have been making clay figures as a profession to support their family. Zhang Mingshan is clever and imaginative. He often observes people from all walks of life in the market, watches various roles in the theater, and secretly creates them in his sleeves. The clay figurines he made were all so lifelike that they became a legend. After decades of hard work, Zhang Mingshan created more than 10,000 works in his life. His art was unique and famous all over the world. The common people loved his works and affectionately gave him a nickname: Clay Figurine Zhang.

Local folk art on the verge of being lost

Tai'an bang, also known as Laiwu bang. Suona is a traditional Chinese folk wind instrument, but people enjoy fewer and fewer suona performances. The Liang Suona Team of Mabu Villager in Anzhuang Town and the Li Suona Team of Zhuanshe Village in Wenyang Town are both facing loss. Li Zhiquan "Li's Suona" is the sixth generation descendant. In 2007, "Li's Suona" was listed as one of the first intangible cultural heritage items in Feicheng City. In 2010, it was established as a municipal intangible cultural heritage item in Tai'an City.
