Long March: Short for the 25,000-mile Long March, it was the strategic transfer of the main force of the Chinese Workers’ and Peasants’ Red Army from the base areas north and south of the Yangtze River to the Shaanxi-Gansu Revolutionary Base Area (also known as the Shaanxi-Gansu Soviet Area) during the Second Civil Revolutionary War. It started in October 1934 and ended in October 1936. It lasted two years, traveled about 25,000 miles, and passed through 14 provinces.
