Four ways to identify series and parallel circuits
1. Definition: If the components in the circuit are connected end to end one by one, the circuit is a series circuit; if the components in the circuit are connected in parallel, the circuit is a parallel circuit.
2. Current method: Let the current start from the positive terminal of the power supply, pass through each electrical appliance, and return to the negative terminal of the power supply. If there is no branching along the way and the current has only one path, it is a series circuit; if the current is divided into several branches somewhere and then meets somewhere, it is a parallel circuit.
3. Disassembly method: Since the electrical appliances in the series circuit affect each other, the electrical appliances in the parallel circuit do not affect each other. In a series circuit, if one electrical appliance is removed, the other electrical appliances will not work; in a parallel circuit, if one electrical appliance is removed, the other electrical appliances can still work. Based on this characteristic, the connection form of the circuit can be judged.
4. Node method No matter how long the wire is, as long as there are no electrical appliances, power supplies and other components in the middle, both ends of the wire can be regarded as the same point, so as to find out the characteristics of the connection of each electrical appliance and draw a standardized circuit diagram. This method is generally used to identify irregular circuits.
