About the Author
Xu Zhimo (1897~1931) modern poet and essayist. The pen names are Nanhu, Yunzhonghe, etc. A native of Haining, Zhejiang. He studied at Shanghai Hujiang University, Tianjin Beiyang University and Peking University. He studied in the United States and England and was deeply influenced by Western education and European and American romanticism and aesthetic poets. He began writing new poems in 1921. His poems have fresh lines, harmonious rhymes, novel metaphors, rich imagination, beautiful artistic conceptions, elegant thoughts, and rich changes. He pursues the orderliness and beauty of artistic forms and has a distinct artistic personality. His prose is also of a style of its own and has achieved as much success as poetry. On November 19, 1931, he was flying from Nanjing to Peking when the plane hit a mountain near Jinan due to fog and he died. He is the author of poetry collections "Zhimo's Poems", "A Night in the Green Green", "Tiger Collection", etc., as well as prose collections "Falling Leaves", "Legends of Paris", etc.
