"Mr. Fujino" PPT courseware 12

Lu Xun (1881-1936) was a great writer, thinker and revolutionary. Born in Shaoxing, Zhejiang, his original name was Zhou Shuren and his courtesy name was Hencai. He used Lu Xun as his pen name since his first novel "A Madman's Diary".

Famous collections of works include "Wild Grass", "Picking Up Flowers in the Morning and Dusk", "Scream", "Wandering", "Canopy Collection", "Grave", etc.

This article is selected from the collection of essays "Picking Up Flowers in the Morning and Evening".

Read the text tips and notes to understand the era and background of the writing of the article.

The text was written in 1926, recalling episodes of studying in Japan from 1902 to 1906. Lu Xun originally wanted to study medicine to save the country and the people, but later he gave up medicine and followed literature. In the study of this lesson, we will realize the reasons for the change in the author's thoughts.

Lu Xun’s experience of studying in Japan

He went to Japan in April 1902 and studied Japanese at Hongbun College in Tokyo. He actively participated in anti-Qing patriotic activities and swore "I recommend Xuanyuan with my blood" in the poem "Self-Inscribed Portrait".

In 1904, he entered Sendai Medical College to study medicine. Two years later, he gave up medicine to pursue literature, hoping to save the nation from peril by changing the national spirit.

In 1906, he went to Tokyo to start literary activities, translated and introduced foreign literary works, and wrote a series of papers such as "On Cultural Partiality".

In 1908, he learned "Shuowen Jiezi" from Zhang Taiyan and joined the Guangfuhui.

In August 1909, he returned from Japan.

School where Fujino works: Sendai Medical College

Professor Fujino's Course: Anatomy

things thoughts quality

What kind of person is Mr. Fujino?

Mr. Fujino is a scholar who lives a simple life, is rigorous in scholarship, treats people with sincerity and enthusiasm, has strict requirements for students, and has no narrow national prejudice.

4. The author’s deep affection for Mr. Fujino

Gratitude (paragraph 37): "He is the one who makes me most grateful and encourages me" "His character is great in my eyes and heart"

Nostalgia (paragraph 38): reflected in actions ① Binding and collecting handouts; ② Hanging photos of teachers; ③ Writing more articles to turn nostalgia into courage and strength for struggle

Guilt (paragraph 36): "It just disappoints him" "Until now, I haven't sent a letter or a photo."

5. Appreciate key sentences

“It’s really beautiful”

The irony more strongly expresses the author's disdain and disgust for the Qing students studying abroad - they do not do their jobs properly, do not care about the national danger, and only pursue elegance.

"Nippori...I still remember the name. Secondly, I only remember Mito..."

"Nippori" gave Lu Xun the feeling and affection of "Where is the hometown of Nippori", and a feeling of concern for the motherland; "Mito" is the admiration for Zhu Shunshui, the patriot. The reason why the two place names are so impressive is his patriotism.

"Probably, things are more valuable than hope."

The author uses a humorous tone to guess the reason why he received "preferential treatment" in Sendai, but the author speculates that it is "things are more valuable than hope". This contains the bitterness of a citizen of a weak country and reflects the author's strong national self-esteem.

"China is a weak country, so of course the Chinese are imbeciles. If the score is above 60, it is not their own ability: no wonder they are confused."

Adding "so" and emphasizing "of course" to a sentence that has no causal connection at all deeply exposes the absurdity of this logic and expresses indignation and attack on this fallacy.

"No wonder they were doubtful" describes the author's extremely bitter and resentful feelings after being bullied.
