Description
"Equations" PPT
Part One: Defining Equations
An equation must be an equation, but an equation is not necessarily an equation.
100+x=250
x=150
The value of the unknown that makes the left and right sides of the equation equal is called the solution of the equation.
Like above, x=150 is the solution to the equation 100+x=250.
The process of finding the solution to an equation is called solving the equation.
Basic properties of equations
1. If you add (or subtract) the same number or the same integer to both sides of the equation, the resulting equation will have the same solution as the original equation.
2. When both sides of an equation are multiplied (or divided) by the same number that is not equal to zero, the resulting equation has the same solution as the original equation.
According to the basic properties of the equation, when solving the equation, steps such as removing the denominator, moving terms, and dividing both sides of the equation by the coefficient of the unknown are used to transform the equation with the same solution. The value of the unknown finally obtained must be the value of the original equation. untie.
Equation PPT, part 2: give it a try
1. Solve the following equations (and state the basis for the solution)
⑴ 1+x=10
⑵ x-8=12
⑶ 6x=36
⑷x÷2.5=4
⑸x+15=27
⑹ 0.5x=2
Equations PPT, part 3: Application of equations
Express the following quantitative relationships using equations.
(1) x plus 35 equals 91.
(2) 3 times x is equal to 57.
(3) The difference between x minus 3 is 6.
(4) 7.8 divided by x equals 1.3.
General steps for solving word problems using equations:
(1) Understand the meaning of the question, determine the unknown number and express it with x;
(2) Find the equality relationship between the quantities in the question;
(3) Make equations and solve equations;
(4) Check or test and write the answer.
Types of equation solving word problems
(1) General application questions;
(2) The problem of sum times and differences;
(3) Calculation of perimeter, area and volume of geometric figures;
(4) Fraction and percentage word problems;
(5) Word problems of ratio and proportion.
Equation PPT, Part 4: After-class exercises
Two engineering teams, A and B, are building a highway together. They are constructing from both ends at the same time.
1) Team A repairs a meter every day, and team B repairs b meters every day, and the repairs are completed in 8 days. How many meters long is this road?
2) If the road is 3,000 meters long, Team A will build 85 meters per day, and Team B will build 65 meters per day. How many days will it take to build this road?
