"Return to Yan'an" was written by He Jingzhi in 1956 after he returned to Yan'an from Beijing after a ten-year absence and participated in the youth afforestation conference of the five northwest provinces (districts). During the conference, the author received a warm welcome from the people of Yan'an and saw the tremendous changes in Yan'an, which aroused high-spirited poetry and creative impulse.
