Content understanding
Passenger road outside the green mountains, boating in front of the green water
Passenger trip, boat trip: point out that it is during the journey.
Green mountains and green water: describe the scenery and hide the feeling of melancholy.
The tide is flat, the banks are wide, the wind is blowing and a sail is hanging.
The tide is flat and the shore is wide: describing the scenery of open plains, straight rivers, and calm waves.
poetic prose translation
The journey is beyond the green mountains, and the boat is sailing in the green water. When the tide is high, the water between the two banks is wide, and boats sailing with the wind have their sails high. When the night is about to end, a red sun rises from the river. Before the old year has passed, spring is already showing on the river. Where should I send letters about missing my hometown? I hope that the wild geese returning north will carry a letter from home to Luoyang.
1. If this poem is about homesickness during the journey, is it reflected in the couplet?
The "guest road" extends beyond the green mountains, and the "small boat" travels among the green water. Therefore, we can see that the poet is in a foreign country, wandering in a different place, and his homesickness has been expressed.
2. What does the couplet write? Many people have praised these two lines of poetry since ancient times for their powerful momentum and bold artistic conception. How do you feel?
Think about answering the following questions:
1. What place and time of year does the poem describe? What sights are there? What characteristics does it exhibit?
2. From this poem, can you tell how the poet is feeling at this moment? Which poem can we tell?
collaborative inquiry
Imagine what it would be like to have "the tide is flat and the two banks are wide, and the wind is blowing and the sail is hanging". How would you feel if you were there?
