Exploration activity 1

Will it happen if a ball is drawn randomly and it is a red ball?

There are only 10 identical red balls in the box. Will the event "Any ball touched in this box be a red ball" happen?

Under certain conditions, there are some things that we can be sure will happen in advance. These things are called inevitable events.

Under certain conditions, there are some things that we can be sure will not happen in advance. These things are called impossible events.

Necessary events and impossible events are collectively called certain events.

Under certain conditions, there are some things that we cannot be sure will happen in advance. These things are called uncertain events, also called random events.

Exercise 1. Which of the following events are inevitable events? What are impossible events? What are uncertain events?

(1) Throw a uniform dice and the 6 o'clock will turn up when it stops spinning;

(2) Randomly select a certain channel on the TV and a cartoon is being played;

(3) Toss an even coin upwards and it will land heads;

Use dice with even texture to play games with your tablemates. The rules are as follows:

(1) Two people play the game at the same time, each rolling a dice. Each person can roll the dice only once, or they can roll the dice several times continuously.

(2) When the sum of the points thrown does not exceed 10, if you decide to stop throwing, your score is the sum of the points thrown; when the sum of the points thrown exceeds 10, you must stop throwing, and your score is 0.

(3) Compare the scores of the two people. Whoever scores more points wins.
